Ghazipur: Anju Chaturvedi, a female farmer from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, makes special laddus for the cold season. She makes nutritious millet laddu which is very healthy. Their laddus give energy and warmth to people in winter. These laddus are completely nutritious millet laddus prepared with desi ghee, flaxseed, white sesame seeds, dry fruits and dry ginger. Anju’s millet laddus are very much liked in their area. It has become a major treasure of health and taste.
About one and a half years ago, the woman farmer received guidance from Ragini Dubey, Subject Matter Specialist, Home Science Expert, Ghazipur Krishi Vigyan Kendra for this special recipe. It was with their help that this product was prepared which can now be called the healthy treasure of millet.
These laddus are full of desi ghee and nutritious ingredients.
While talking to Local18 team, he told that in the recipe of this laddu, 500 grams of millet, 250 grams of desi ghee, 250 grams of flaxseed, white sesame and various dry fruits are used. With Ragini Dubey’s suggestions and training, the woman farmer has developed this nutritious sweet which is rich in fiber and essential nutrients. This use of millet becomes a safe source of energy and warmth in winter. People can also like it on Diwali and other festivals.
Support from local authorities and growing market
The local officials of Ghazipur and surrounding areas appreciated his work and supported him to become self-reliant regarding his product. The officials have not only tasted their laddus but are also motivating them to promote this product in their areas. This business of women farmers is run under ‘Lahuri Kashi Women Farmer Limited’ in which the cost of making one kg laddu is around Rs 350 and it is sold at the rate of Rs 400 per kg.
This initiative is not just an enterprise but a symbol of rural women empowerment and transformation in the agriculture sector. This female farmer has set a new example of influencing the agricultural world by offering healthy options in winter through millet laddus.
